Catching up

Updated: Sep 30, 2020

First, happy national coffee day! I've had my two cups already, and I'm good to go.

Since attending the conference two weeks ago then traveling to Idaho to visit one of my kids, I'm busy with the day job and my writing.

I road-tripped (12 hours each way) with my husband and son and suggested we listen to an audiobook. Honestly, they were afraid I'd pick something too feminine for them, so I took some suggestions from friends and picked a spy novel.

I've only listened to audiobooks about four other times, and they were fairly recent releases. This book was published in the 1980s. I couldn't believe how much publishing styles have changed. It was an eye-opener. I felt that the narrative went on and on. The descriptions were so heavy that it detracted from the story. The inciting incident was waaayyy too far into the novel. The first character that was introduced ended up getting killed about 45 minutes into the book, and then we had to figure out who the main character(s) were. Crazy.

Anyway, have a happy day, and enjoy your coffee. If you're a praying person, I'd appreciate prayers for completing edits on my novel.

Write on, friends! That's what I'm doing.
