I'm always stumped when someone asks me my favorite season. I love them all, and I'm blessed to live where all four seasons are distinct and beautiful. One activity that is consistent for me, no matter the season, is reading a good book. As a fellow reader, I'm happy to share some autumn bucket-list ideas. The bottom line: keep warm and keep reading, friends!

Yes, this list is tongue-in-cheek, but I hope you enjoy it—and pick up a book, and read.

  1. Go apple picking at a local orchard, or read a terrific novel.

  2. Visit a pumpkin patch, or write a review for a novel you enjoyed.

  3. Sit around a fire pit with friends, or reread a favorite novel.

  4. Bake some pumpkin bread, or research the next novel you want to read.

  5. Attend a fall festival, or stay home and organize your TBR pile.

  6. Go on a hayride with friends or family, or sit by a fire and read.

  7. Take a nature walk and collect colorful leaves, or start reading that novel you’ve been thinking about.

  8. Decorate your home with autumn accents, or sip tea and finish reading that novel.

  9. Try your hand at making homemade caramel apples, or text a friend about a book you loved.

  10. Have a picnic in the park surrounded by fall colors, or discover a new author.

The arrival of autumn weather is bittersweet because this past Sunday was my last day on the patio. In warm weather, I love to sit in my lounge chair to read my Bible, novels, and work. From now until May, when I read or work, I'll be tucked in my office or sitting alongside my fireplace in the family room.
