Summer Fun and Books (reading & writing)

It's been raining (and hailing) like crazy the past few weeks in Colorado and the landscape has turned impossibly green. Everything's blooming and the trees have finally leafed out. Last week my Maple tree promised to burst forth, now the leaves have unfurled and I'm again enjoying the sound of the breezes through the limbs.

I had a fantastic idea for a Mother's Day gift this year: a few hours of time from my kids and grandkids. The result is that my backyard is spruced up and weed-free! If you know anything about me, you know I love to sit outside in the summer.

As I write, I'm sitting in my Adirondack chair surrounded by swaying branches from my trees and shrubs while the the breeze skips through my neighborhood. My fountain is singing its tune alongside my chaise lounge, which has a lovely new cushion from Costco. It's so comfy!

I've been sitting outside the past few weeks while reading two delicious novels, In This Moment by Gabrielle Meyer and The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave. The next book I'll start reading is The Best Summer of Our Lives by Rachel Hauck. I'm excited to read Rachel's book because it features 1977, which was a very good year. :) Timely, for me.

As for my writing, I sent a fresh proposal to my agent last Monday and I'm about to get back to writing a novel that is one-third complete. I've got several other novels sketched out to select my next novel to write. (I guess I don't know how to quit.)

I hope your summer is shaping up and that you'll accomplish all you need and want to get done.

Write on, read on, and enjoy your summer, friends!
