Ten Suggestions for Lent

Updated: Mar 3, 2022

For Christians, Lent is the season to prepare our hearts for Easter. This year, Lent begins tomorrow, on Ash Wednesday.

A time to spiritually prepare for Easter, the 40-day Lenten period (not counting Sundays) is based on the time Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert, prior to His crucifixion and resurrection (see Matthew 4:1-2).

Many spend time reflecting or fasting from a favorite treat or activity during Lent. Do a search, there are plenty of suggestions on what to fast from ice cream to alcohol to chocolate.

I think it's excellent to practice self-control, and often for the fun of it, I'll fast from coffee or chocolate. But today, I have some alternative suggestions of what you should try:

I hope you have a thoughtful few weeks. I'm planning on it. I'm going to be praying for a closer walk with God. I'm praying to be more aware of the Spirit. I'm going to strive to share more kind words, be more considerate and generous, pray more and worry less, and count my blessings.

I hope that God will bless you in delightful ways in the coming weeks, friends. Say a prayer for me, and I'll be praying for you.

I shall remain,

A Prisoner of Hope!

I hope you have a meaningful Lenten season. I've decided to take a break from blogging. I'll chat with you again on April 19th. Until then, write on and God bless!
