Efforts = Accomplishment, now don't forget that!

Rome wasn't built in a day.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Little strokes fell great oaks.

You've heard those sayings before. They endure because there's truth to them.

Believe me, I know how grueling the writing life can be. It's too easy to become discouraged when you think your journey should be further along than it seems. But we need to remember to say a prayer and persevere in our efforts.

Here are some tips to help you persevere:

  • Keep yourself spiritually charged. Remember Who your writing partner is. We are called by God, and He is faithful to us.

  • Journal spiritual thoughts about your writing life, story idea, etc.

  • Write a prayer for your writing journey.

Keep your perspective, be proud of your efforts, and keep working toward your goals. Don't wait for a huge accomplishment to be proud of yourself. Acknowledge your efforts and your faithfulness to the task.

Don't wait until you publish your book or get a contract to be proud of yourself. Be proud of yourself every time you sit down to the keyboard or read a book on craft or go to a seminar. Be proud of every step you take to meet your goal.

Write on, friends. Write on!
