Opportunity alert: Scrivenings Press #NovelStarts contest

Do you have a great story idea that's been running through your mind? Have you started writing it? Maybe you've got a thousand words, or maybe not. Maybe you have an amazing idea, but you're not sure how to develop it.

Do you wonder if your idea is any good? Well, Scrivenings Press Novel Starts contest will give you an opportunity to test your skills.

This contest offers a chance to bypass the dreaded slush pile! The Grand Prize winner will receive head-of-the-line privileges to submit to Scrivenings Press once his or her novel is finished.

Get this: ALL ENTRIES will receive feedback from contest judges, who are all traditionally published in fiction, with tips to strengthen your writing. That alone, makes the fee worthwhile, IMHO.

The Grand Prize winner, in addition to having the ability to skip the slush pile and submit directly to the publisher once the manuscript is finished, will also receive a thorough critique of up to 25 pages** of your manuscript by Scrivenings Press owner Linda Fulkerson, a multi-published author in both fiction and nonfiction; paid registration* for their annual author retreat to be held in the spring of 2022 (details to be announced soon); AND a $75 Amazon gift card.

The entry fee is $25, but that fee also gets you valuable feedback. The deadline is 11:59 p.m. (central time) on September 14, 2021, so get going!

Of course, there are rules and submission guidelines, so read through them carefully.

**Note: Do not submit 25 pages when you enter the contest. Novel Starts entries are 5 pages. Winners will be contacted so they can submit more pages for the in-depth critique. You do not have to have 25 pages written to enter the Novel Starts contest, but the winners will be awarded an in-depth critique on up to 25 pages.

*Note: This prize only includes the registration fee ($100 value), which will include some of the meals. Travel, lodging, additional meals, and miscellaneous expenses are not included.

Write on, friends!
